McLainberg's advisory boards and commissions are composed of volunteer residents appointed by the City Council. They provide expertise and community perspective to assist the Council in decision-making on planning, parks, finances, and historic preservation.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission consists of five (5) members serving four-year terms. The Commission holds public hearings on land use applications, subdivision maps, General Plan amendments, and Zone Changes, and makes recommendations to the City Council on major planning matters. The Commission meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 5:30 PM.

Parks & Recreation Commission

The Parks and Recreation Commission consists of seven (7) members serving three-year staggered terms. The Commission advises the City Council on park planning, recreation programs, park fees, and capital improvements to the City's park system. The Commission meets the second Monday of each month at 6:00 PM.

Finance Advisory Committee

The Finance Advisory Committee consists of five (5) members with financial expertise, serving two-year terms. The Committee reviews the City's annual budget, quarterly financial reports, investment policy, and fee schedule, and makes recommendations to the City Council. The Committee meets quarterly or as needed.

Historic Preservation Committee

The Historic Preservation Committee consists of five (5) members with expertise in history, architecture, or preservation, serving three-year terms. The Committee reviews applications for work within the Historic Downtown Overlay District and maintains the McLainberg Register of Historic Resources. The Committee meets the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM.

Commission vacancies are advertised on the City's website and at City Hall. Applications are available from the City Clerk's Office. The City Council interviews applicants and makes appointments at a regular City Council meeting.
